Football Federation Australia invites you into our Football Family the home of Australian football‏

FFA would like to sincerely thank you for your enthusiasm and support of the Bid over the past 18 months.

We are obviously disappointed with the outcome in Zurich, however we are proud of the efforts we made in trying to secure a FIFA World Cup for Australia.

While we would love to continue allowing the thousands of fans to communicate and contribute content through our Come Play! website and social media channels, FIFA regulations require us to close them down.

Therefore, next week we will be closing the 2022 Bid website, including the Come Play! social networking site.

Moving forward, we would like to extend a special invitation to all our Bid supporters to be a part of FFA’s Football Family.

Football Family members are often the first to get updated with all the latest information on Australian football including exclusive access and discounted tickets for Qantas Socceoos fixtures, news, promotions and other special offers for the Westfield Matildas, Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League.

Membership is free and, to further thank you for your support of the Bid, by registering as a member you will also be eligible to win Come Play! memorabilia signed by Qantas Socceroos.

They will surely be collectors’ items now and in the future.

How to win signed memorabilia

Visit myfootball.com.au to register yourself as a member of our family (or update your details if you are already a member)
Follow the link on the registration page to answer the following question in 25 words or less: “How does football inspire you and why?”

The 3 best entries, based on literary and creative merit as well as brevity and originality will win one of 3 items (see photo):

1st - Qantas Socceroos jersey signed by Socceroos players;
2nd - World Cup Bid Cap signed by Socceroos players;
3rd - World Cup Bid bucket hat signed by Socceroos players.
Ts and Cs

Welcome to the latest edition of Come Play! News

In just two days time we will know whether or not Australia has won the right to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

This is an incredible period of time in the history of our sport and the culmination of what has been a wonderful example of Aussie determination and spirit in pulling together all the various elements required by FIFA of Bidding Nations.

Tomorrow (midnight AEDT) we will stand before the FIFA Executive Committee and make Australia's Final Presentation. Our very proud Aussie delegation is ready and our Final Presentation, which we rehearsed at the Home of FIFA yesterday, looks fantastic.

I can assure you we have done everything possible to prove Australia is a worthy host, and will continue to do so right up until the FIFA Executive Committee vote.

With the final decision now days away, I again urge you to encourage everyone you know to show their support by joining the bid.

Let's invite the world to Come Play!

Come Play! News‏

Today marks five years since that memorable night at Stadium Australia when John Aloisi slotted the penalty that secured Australia's place at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, our first appearance at a FIFA World Cup in 32 years.

If FIFA World Cup qualification united our country in a manner never before witnessed in Australian sporting history - I can only imagine what winning the right to host a FIFA World Cup in Australia could do.

We are now only 16 short days away from the announcement of the host of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. I urge you to continue to show your support of our bid, by getting your friends and family to join the bid.

Thank you for your support - and best of luck to the Qantas Socceroos as they take on Eygpt on 17 November in Cairo.

`Bid Book' preparations
Members of FFA's FIFA World Cup Bid Team have been in Zurich this week to meet with key FIFA personnel from various departments including legal, finance, media and broadcast.

Representatives from all bidding nations have been provided with further information on the `Bid Book' requirements, clarification on the FIFA Inspection tour (which will take place some time between July and September 2010) and details around official FIFA promotional opportunities afforded to each country to promote their bid.

All bidding nations will have an opportunity to promote their bid to the world's media at the FIFA World Cup Draw in Cape Town on 4 December 2009.

ComePlay!

Three times lucky?

Tickets are now on sale for the Qantas Socceroos v Netherlands match, to be played on 10 October at Sydney Football Stadium.

This is an important warm up match for the Qantas Socceroos, who then head to Melbourne to play Oman in a crucial AFC Asian Cup Qualifier on 14 October.

Australia has an impressive record against the number 3 ranked Netherlands - having drawn (1-1) and won (2-1) on the two previous occasions the countries have met.

With Australia's Dutch connection, including our Dutch coaching staff and Jason Culina who, prior to joining Gold Coast United, made 160 appearances for Dutch clubs, this is a game not to be missed!

Tickets are now on sale through Ticketek on 132 849 or visit ticketek.com.au

A date for your diary

Before they come home to Australia, the Qantas Socceroos will play Korea in Seoul next Saturday 5 September in an international friendly match.

Come Play! An update on Australia's FIFA World Cup Bid‏

Thanks for supporting Australia's bid to host the FIFA World Cup in either 2018 or 2022.
Here is all the latest news from the 'ComePlay!' team.

Taking it to the top
Our very own Kevin '07 made history last week in Zurich when he met with FIFA President Joseph Blatter to discuss Australia's bid to host the FIFA World Cup in either 2018 or 2022.
The meeting lasted more than an hour with Prime Minister Rudd, Football Federation Australia (FFA) Chairman, Frank Lowy AC as well as FFA CEO, Ben Buckley outlining Australia's claims.
Mr Lowy said the Australian delegation received a warm reception from the FIFA President.
"President Blatter is already well aware of Australia's strong track record in hosting major events, such as the Sydney Olympics, but it was a very good opportunity for Mr Blatter to hear personally from the Prime Minister of the Government's support for the bid," Mr Lowy said.

Are your friends all signed up?
Thank you for spreading the word and encouraging your friends to register their support for Australia's bid at australia2018-2022.com.au.
26,000 + supporters is a great start!
