A GRADE MATCH REPORT.

The Sharks took on Blue Lake at Shark park trying to regain fourth spot on the ladder after last weeks loss to Centrals. Blue Lake had the strong wind advantage in the first half and it took only three minutes to open their account. A mix up in the Sharks box allowed Callum Ferguson to slam home from close range. The Blues were doing most of the attacking with the Sharks having to shoot from a long way out. The Blues got their second after good work by Walter Chatindiara who somehow got the ball to Ferguson who calmly slotted home again. Will Bytheway in the Sharks goal was in good form preventing a blow out. The Sharks started to get some passing going and had a couple of chances to Jon Stemberger and then Wayne Lennon who headed over. Ferguson was running riot in the midfield and when he found Tristan Guess in the clear it was 3-0. Ferguson then was given a penalty but could only hit the post; however he soon he made up for his miss and claimed his hat trick before half time with a neat finish.

The Sharks came out with the wind at their backs and with Lance DaRocha, Wayne Lennon and Matty Weistra starting to come into the game they had hope of a comeback, and when Scott Murray scored from a Da Rocha free kick they had their tails up Blue Lake had other ideas and when Justin McRostie found Mitch Thomson free he calmly chipped the keeper to give them a 4 goal buffer again. Weistra was making good runs but the Blues defence was forcing him to shoot from a distance which he couldn’t beat Vic Bentvelzen. Jon Stemberger was awarded a penalty after a goal mouth infringement which he duly converted. Soon after Ferguson got his 4th for the day when a long Thomson throw found him unmarked in the 18 yard box. Bentvelzen pulled off a great save from a well struck Lennon free kick. The Sharks got a final goal late in the game when a fumble in the box allowed substitute Jay Byrne to put home an easy tap in.
Best players – Blue Lake: K Reiner, C Ferguson, J McRostie
Sharks: L Da Rocha, W Lennon, M Weistra
