Melbourne Heart FC Media Release - Socceroos Unite For Red Cross Victorian Floods Appeal‏

Socceroos Unite For Red Cross Victorian Floods Appeal

Melbourne Heart FC has partnered with fellow Hyundai A-League side Melbourne Victory to help raise funds for the Red Cross Victorian Floods Appeal.

Heart Captain Simon Colosimo and star striker John Aloisi as well as Victory’s Kevin Muscat and Adrian Leijer have united to auction an exclusive once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for fans of the round ball code.

The auction features dinner for the highest bidder and three friends with Colosimo, Aloisi, Muscat and Leijer, signed merchandise plus fully catered corporate hospitality for ten at upcoming Heart and Victory home matches.

President of the Professional Footballers Association, Colosimo is confident the auction will raise much needed funds for victims of the devastating floods which have struck the State.

Colosimo said: “Although we may wear different colours and are rivals on the pitch, it is important the football community comes together to provide support for the victims of these devastating floods which have struck Victoria.

“Sport is a powerful tool for change, and we are determined to increase awareness of the plight of our fellow Victorians and raise much need funds to help rebuild the communities affected by the floods.

“We ask everyone to donate generously and help out as every little bit counts.”

The joint initiative was sparked by the suggestion of followers on Twitter, who urged Heart and Victory to use tomorrow’s Melbourne Derby to help raise funds for flood victims, highlighting the power of social media.
