May 22, 2011
Sunday the 22nd of May 2011 will go down in Blue Lake history as Lewis Ferguson played his 550th senior game for Blue Lake.
Anybody who has played against Blue Lake and against Lew will know that he epitomises the true Blue Lake never say die attitude. I have been lucky enough to play with Lewie in the reserves for the last few years and the experience, poise and sight that he shows on the ball amazes me. I have seen Lewie turn/and beat players twice as young as him and its a true testament to his skill on and off the ball.
Lew is known as a very passionate player and person and if you aren't with it on the field be prepared to cop and ear full, and rightly so, but in saying this Lew will always be the first to encourage his team mates when they are trying their hearts out to make that pass or score that goal.
Its people and players like Lew that make Blue Lake what it is. With young Blair (Lew's son) making his way through the ranks I'm sure we will see another Ferguson in the future with another 550th under his belt!
