SEWFA results for 25/6/11
County 2 def Portland 1
Portland came out strong from the start and caught County by surprise scoring in the first 5 minutes of the game, but to County’s credit the heads never went down. There was an unfortunate handball by Countys defence which gave Portland a penalty. Due to the great skill of County’s keeper Megan McMillan it was saved this spurred on the County side and they scored before the half time break. After the break County had not lost there momentum and continued to attack having a few near misses. The persistence paid off with talented new player Nicolette Cella scoring her first goal for the season – one of many to come I’m sure. This left the end score being 2 – 1 in County’s favour.

County 7 def Portland 0
Perfect football conditions on Saturday afternoon saw the County Junior team
play host to Portland at Blue Lake Sports Park. The game started slowly,
with both sides taking their time to get going. However despite the
sluggish start, it wasn't long before County's Lauren Smith slotted the
first two goals through the Portland defence. Sister duo Shae and Bree
Thomson followed soon after scoring one each so that at the half-time break
County led by four goals. After the break, despite the best efforts of
Portland's Angela Bennett and youngster Rachel Gleeson, County continued to
dominate play and attack the goal area, resulting in a further three goals.
