Highlights
Villa started the game with our usual goalie back in her rightful place, welcome back Sam.
Sam had a quiet day but still managed to cut off a couple long through balls. Millicent tried to stem the Villa tide of red shirts but it was just a matter of time before Villa scored.
Once the first goal went in things settled down and more open play ensued, but goals were hard to come by with Millicent playing long stretches in their own half and dropping just about all players behind the ball.
Millicent played some good football but were clearly facing a huge ask to overcome a rampant Villa, Natalie Koczak finished the day with a quiet 3 goals.
It was mentioned by both coaches that it was as if their respective teams were playing in treacle, it was slow and ponderous at times especially in the first twenty minutes.
Well done to both teams for a game played in great spirit.

 3. N Lambert
2. A Beck
1. S Freeman
Highlights
This was always going to be a tight game, both teams were moving the ball up and down their wings constantly, resulting in some tired players at which time the game settled down into a smoother style.
Millicent scored first through N Lambert and Villa responded with a nice shot from Aimee Beck from the edge of the 18 yard box, going over the keepers head and in.
Millicent’s second came from a cross that was accidently turned into Villa’s own goal by Kelsey Reade. That’s two in two games for Kelsey and now makes her Villa senior’s top goal scorer!!
Millicent finished the game off with another goal from N Lambert which was a great chip, just dropping in at the end. Villa’s keeper Sam Freeman had an outstanding game in the seniors and kept them within touch.
Both teams played well and pushed it till the fulltime whistle was blown; I expect the return leg to be a rip snortter of a game.

Palace Vs County
U14s
Palace 3def County 0
Best Players
3. E. McClintock
2. I. Pratt
1. P. Holdman
Highlights
Palace came into the game knowing how important it was to get a good result. Both teams played some very good football, passing the ball around well. Shaye Thomson worked tireless for County as did Eleanor McClintock in the sweeper role for Palace. Ashlee Tye put in a great performance in the County goal, whilst Alesha Hayes showed great team spirit filling in at short notice as goalkeeper for Palace.
Just before half time Palace managed to score to take an important lead. Early in the second half Lily Griffin had a great run down the right side, finishing off nicely with a well taken goal. Late in the game Imogen Pratt went on a solo run & managed to place her shot to the side of the County keeper for a 3-0 final score line. Both teams had great contributors to a most enjoyable game. The future of SEWFA looks good with such young talent coming through.

There was not a lot separating the two sides as Palace hosted County last week at Blue Lake Sports Park in typical wintery conditions. Rain, sun, wind and cloud accompanied the players and spectators in what evolved as an honest and hard fought tussle to conclude the first round of the home and away series. Palace took the honours into the break courtesy of a delightful strike on goal from distance from Olivia Pratt playing out wide on her non-preferred left side. Younger sibling, Imogen Pratt netted for Palace in the latter stages of the second term to secure three vital premiership points for the reigning premiers. If both sides have a full complement of players when next they meet, expect another high quality and respectable performance from both camps. Final score Palace 2 (O. Pratt, I. Pratt) def. County 0.

City Vs United

3. T Frost (United)
2. E Ireland (City).
1. T Kourmouzis (United)
The young City side took to the park full of energy and despite their lack of years, played with confidence and vision.  A through ball on the right caught the United defence napping and a cleanly placed shot from Erin Ireland into the side netting saw City take the lead in the early stages of the game.
United stepped up its intensity, and through the wide players of Kylie Durbidge and Tracey Kourmouzis, created several chances however City sweeper Lauren Birch invariably was able to clear the ball from danger.
Despite several opportunities from both sides during the second half, neither keeper was really troubled, both coming of their lines quickly when required.  At the final whistle, a relieved City claimed the points and retained third position on the ladder.

6th placed Portland played undefeated Wanderers at home in the 7th round of the South East Women’s Football Association.  Portland set the pace early on catching the Wanderers team off guard with a couple of great plays up to the Portland attacking half.  Portland mid fielders Kristy De Rose, Alannah Daniel and Karina Jensen kept the ball up front for Portland with a few good runs for goal from Rachael Bennett and Katelyn Kilgour and Portland were unlucky to score in the first half.  Wanderers however had several shots at goal and were off target splaying the ball to either the left or right on numerous occasions managing to hit the target taking the half time score to 1 nil.  The second half saw some position changes with Leonie McCallum moving into midfield for Wanderers and Katelyn Kilgour missing the second half of the game and being replaced up front by Olivia Coates.  Portland managed to score in the second half with Alannah Daniel crossing the ball in front of goals and a miss kick from Wanderers saw an own goal levelling the scores.  Both teams upped the pressure and it was an intense game for spectators and players alike with a goal being scored by Wanderers in the last 5 minutes giving them an unblemished record.  Portland certainly demonstrated that they are a team to watch out for and they didn’t make it easy for Wanderers to get the points.  Next week Wanderers take on 3rd placed City and Portland take on 5th placed County in Mt Gambier.
