All roads lead to Webb St the home of Apollo Soccer Club this Sunday as the two top teams in the race for the Dycer Constructions Premiership, go head to head for the fourth team in less than 4 months. International took the points in the minor round of the Belgiorno’s Cup early in the year only to be thumped by Apollo 5 , 2 in both the Michelin Cup fixture and Belgiorno’s Cup Final.
The big concern for International is how to stop their leaky defence against the ladder leaders. Apollo have plenty of goal scoring options with Matt Ripper, Stewie Wallace, Ash Stenner, Georgie Panagopoulos, Craig Walker and Chris Bytheway all amongst the goals in recent weeks. In fact in recent weeks Apollo have put 11 goals past their three biggest rivals, beating all three in the past month. In the cup, they cruised past the Sharks 4 nil, defeated Internatioanl 5, 2, and last week in the premiership, despite missing four starting players, pushed aside Gambier Centrals.
Last week International scored 12 against a hapless Millicent United, Apollo are a much different prospect. Inter will need to play much better than they did only a fortnight ago if they are to take anything from this fixture.
Apollo should win and wrap up top spot on the ladder.
In other games Gambier Centrals will have an easy outing against Millicent United, The Sharks should return to the winners circle against Naracoorte United and in a very important fixture for Blue Lake they could go back to back winners for the first time this season when they face Portland at home.
