Maori Evertonians; Marquees Actually Scoring; Pesky Tactics‏

Your Week in Football
Like John Aloisi before us, the FourFourTwo newsletter has been refreshed and reinvigorated for the new A-League season. We're trialling this new Monday slot (let us know what you think) to serve you up the best of the weekend's action from the A-League and even cast an eye over those European leagues too.

Before the games even kicked off, it was revealed that Robbie Fowler is actually Australian! "I'm looking more for an Australian player to be my captain," said North Queensland coach Ian Ferguson back in May. Step forward True Blue Fowler for the task.

The opening round of the A-League provided enough to leave us more satisfied than a Maori Everton fan. The big line marquees of Aloisi, Culina and Fowler all scored, there was 17 goals in total and even Jason Hoffman managed to notch twice.

Overseas, Fergie pretended to be surprised by Ballack committing a blatant foul, while Mark Viduka seems to have found a new injury room to occupy for the coming year.
