THE ROUND BALL SCORES AGAIN

Tess Andrews hams it up after being named mvp on Sunday.

On Sunday Mount Gambier's soccer community development program The Round Ball continued its success winning the first ever Mash-Up Cup in Warrnambool against the warrnambool wolves. The first leg was held in Mount Gambier and saw the locals win convincingly in the junior u14 competition and draw 2 all in the senior u16 age group. The weekend results pleased Director of Coaching Tom Dickson who was very pleased with the effort show on the track during the week. "The competition was great for our juniors. The Wolves are well coached and well organised, we had to work very hard to get the result."

The highlight for Dickson was the 7 nil rout at home by the junior squad at home in a fortnight ago "We did not know what to expect and they impressed us. the junior game started at a fast pace and was very even for the first half. We scored a good goal through Sam Shoemark and led 2 nil at the break, however the second half was fantastic. Likewise the effort by the senior squad on the road last week was fantastic. they were lucky to get a draw at home and we worked them hard on the track during training last week. they did really we on sunday running out winners 2 nil. We had several injuries and called up a few junior players and they did very well. Will Circelli has been a revelation since coming into the squad and Tess Andrews showed her class."

The competition which sees boys mixed with older girls is the first of its kind in the region and plans are already on the drawing board for it to grow even bigger next year.

Scott Dickson CEO of The Round Ball added "the kids loved it and so did the parents, it is what we are always on about. Having a go, improving yourself and setting new goals. We cant wait until next year"
