Aimee Beck’s return to the side strengthened attack and forced desperate defensive action from Portland. Kelsey Reade has made a smooth transition to senior football lifting her game to cope with the faster, more physical aspects of the game. With both teams vying for the title of most improved, a nil-nil score at the break was never going to last. Increased tempo by both saw Villa sneak two past the visitors however Portland’s Katelyn Kilgour made the score sheet again. Despite excellent attacking moves by Bohdeen Gerritsen, Portland could not capitalise and had to make the journey home without adding to its point tally.
