BLUE LAKE OFFICIAL MATCH REPORT

BLUE LAKE v SHARKS
Blue Lake hosted a Sharks team on the rebound after losing to Apollo narrowly last week. The Blues were keen to atone for their dreadful display against the new look Sharks after losing to them in the cup 3-1.
The game started at a frenetic pace and with a so many young guns on the park it was likely to continue all day long. The sharks looked to be marginally on top early in the match with Stemberger, Weistra etc running on to a good supply of balls from Kennett, Gordon and company, but due to the ever reliable defence of Strachan, Grubb and Domaschenz, they were forced to shoot from distance and with Armandi in goals it is always a difficult task. The Blues youngsters in Vujica, Reiner and Phillips in the midfield were matching it with the Sharks and they could have gone one up with a one on one with the keeper who wasn’t forced into a save. The Sharks defence was very solid with Nunan, Widdison and the very impressive Adesanmi and they were giving the Blues forwards very little room to create. An entertaining half drew to a close with neither team being able to break the deadlock.
As predicted the second half continued on at the same pace and although chances were created they could not be converted. Sharks thought that they had hit the front when a strike was heading for the top corner but the athletic Armandi made the save of the day by tipping over. Most of the chances now were coming from long range shots due to the immense pressure that both defences were putting on the forwards but still the game stayed in the balance. The game finished at nil all but it was a magnificent spectacle which showed that a game can be enjoyed by all even without goals.
Best players for Blue Lake: Grubb, Strachan, Vujica and Armandi.
Sharks were best served by Adesanmi, Nunan, Gordon and Widdison.
