EDUCATION FOR ALL

Over the last few days, Alishia and William spent their time visiting schools in the slums of Kampala, the Ugandan capital and also on the remote island community of Kalangala.

Whilst visiting the schools, the pair heard from the children and school administrators of the problems the children faced every day as they struggled to get an education. The problems ranged from the tangible - no textbooks and limited access to electricity and food, to the non-tangilble such as the lack of government support and the struggle for parents to choose between sending their child to school or sending them out to work to get money to eat - a very real decision for families in Uganda.

However they were also able to witness how these problems can be potentially overcome. The pair were shown firsthand the unique approach that ActionAid is taking to overcome these issues - focusing upon their rights and doing more for the community then building schools but also lobbying governments about the universal right to an education.

A couple of new videos recapping these last few emotional days have now been uploaded to the ActionAid 1Goal Young Ambassador Blog.

Thanks for making a difference.
