SEWFA results for weekend 21/5/2011‏

South East Womens Football Association Results for 21st May
Wanderers 3 defeated County 0
Ladder leaders Wanderers met top 4 contenders County in a
game of anticipation. Wanderers once again started strong and
with well executed plays, leading to a ball distributed to Monique
Sims, who with a long range shot, put Wanderers in front 1-0.
Pressuring once again Wanderers looked to score again only to
be denied to the strong defence of Anna Cella and ever reliable Megan McMillan.
Pushing forward, County troubled Wanderers defence but with
loose balls capitalized on saw Wanderers score twice more
before the half time break.
The second half saw County's forwards lift, and with Wanderers
short on numbers, were attacking their goals but with great
determination kept County to 3-0 at full time.
Goal Scorers: J.D’onghia, P. Ackland, M. Sims
Best Players: M.Sims(Wanderers), E.Ripper(Wanderers), N.Cella(County)

City 0 drew with Millicent 0
Such a closely contested game which showed through the result with a draw. It wasn’t City’s day having quite a few close shots one hitting the cross bar from Jen Smith. Millicent Goalie was determined not to let anything through. This result could make a difference at the end of season as to whom makes it through to the finals
Best Players: E.Mackay(City), H.Kent(Millicent), M.Copping(City)

Palace 2 defeated United 1
Certainly a close contested game. Palace midfield worked overtime winning it back after their forwards were beaten by United’s defence. Once again Heidi Heemskerk from United played brilliantly in the back line limiting Palace’s chances. Gabby Tentye from Palace worked hard through out the backline through to midfield, her persistence paid off with a brilliant goal. If there was going to be a goal of the year that would be it at this stage of the season.
Goal Scorers: Palace -G.Tentye, L.Oberer, United – N.Marony
Best Players: G.Tentye(Palace), H.Heemskerk(United), C.Dickins(Palace)

Portland 2 drew with Villa 2
Goal Scorers: Portland - K.Jensen, K.Kilgour, Villa – J.Wood, T.Neale

Juniors Under 14’s

Wanderers 3 defeated County 0
Wanderers and County was going to be a tough contest. With Wanderers coming out from the first whistle eager to score, it was proven right with a finish from Monique Sims. County's Ashley Tye was outstanding in goals stopping a number of shots from Jasmine White. Half time score was 1-0 in favour of Wanderers.
Second half was a different game play for both teams with County's ShaeThomson giving Wanderers defenders a headache. Late second half, County were running out of legs and Wanderers capitalising and scoring 2 more goals.

Scorers: M.Sims 2, J.White

Best players: A. Tye (County), K. Payne ( Wanderers), S. Thomson (County)

City 0 drew with Millicent 0
As with the seniors neither Millicent or City could get one in the net. Both teams defended hard to ensure no score was to be. Emily Birch from City continues to be dominate in the back line and is certainly dangerous when comes forward.

Villa 10 defeated Portland 0
This unfortunately was a one sided affair, with Villa being dominate all over the field. Portland fought bravely throughout the game with Angela Bennett being the leader for the side.
The more experience this young Portland side gets the better they are becoming.
No goal scorers or best players provided.
