WBSA Dycer Constructions Premiership Blue Lake v Sharks 1 May‏



The first of the WBSA Premiership competition saw the Sharks return to Malseed Park to face Blue Lake Rangers.

These two teams recently battled a fornight night ago, where the Sharks easily won the game 7-1 to finish on top of Group B and face Apollo in the Semi Final later on in the year.

Keen to keep the momentum going, Coach Bruttomesso was eager for the good form to continue, and start the season off in a positive way, to secure the 3 pts for their first game.

The Sharks were very confident, that they could do it again.

Substitutes -Ethan Parsons, Nick Hewish, Eh Moo



The game summary as follows:

(3min) Szpakowski makes a break down the left , takes the ball very deep, and lays the ball across towards the back post when a high flying Kasole who just couldnt manage to get his head to the ball,but instead it struck him on the arm.

Without hesitation referee Phil Muller shows Sharks No 10 ,Salva Kasole the red card for a deliberate handball.

The Sharks were stunned...

(17min) Rangers No 8 receives a yellow card for late tackle on Matt Gordon

(31min) Kennett receives a left foot cross from Szpakoswki, and a near perfect header resulted in a just miss opportunity.

(40min) Sharks keeper Norton Fuller is injured, when he received a knee in the back after a bone crunching save.

Half time Score 0-0

(43 min) Kennett runs towards goal, and deliberately passes the ball to a waiting Szpakoswki on the left hand side of the field. With plenty of time, the Sharks defender, cleverly draws the Rangers defence, and with a perfect timed cross, finds Kennett unmarked and and on the goal line then easily taps the ball to score Sharks first goal.Score Sharks 1-0

(50min) Young Brad Pilven was showing dynamic speed and was consistently applying pressure on the Rangers defence.After a numerous amount of attempts, the Rangers had no choice but to foul Pilven inside the box, and the Sharks were awarded the penalty.

The young Sharks captain Tobbei Kennett gave the ball to Pilven,for his chance to finish off his hard work.

Pilven makes no mistake by sending the Rangers keeper Colin Smith diving to his left, and strike it hard at the centre of goal. Score 2-0

The Rangers added more players in defense, and it was difficult for the Sharks to penetrate.

(80min) Matt Weistra back from a 12 week injury, showed many signs that he was in for a another good year. Displaying some solid shooting skills keeping Smith very busy defending his goal.

Sharks were now applying real pressure when Nzeakor , Wright , Widdison were all taking in turns,making dangerous runs towards goal.

The Rangers started to move players forward, but this only opened up the game.

Sharks substitutes were used when Matt Wesitra & Brad Pilven both needing a rest, which gave Parsons and Hewish a chance to contribute.

The hard working pair of Gordon & Kennett just kept going forward, but easy chances went begging for the Sharks.

Sharks wern't able to add to the scoreline, and the final score Sharks winning 2-0.



Coach Bruttomesso was pleased to get the 3 pts, especially being down to 10 men for most of the game.

Next week the Sharks welcome Naracoorte to Shark Park.
