Australia Day Cup

We are pleased to announce that our Australia Day Cup tournament will take place
Tuesday January 26 at Grant High School.
Under 14 Tournament 5.00-6.15
Under 16 Tournament 6.00 -7.15
Parents are encouraged to stay and watch the games

The format is very simple and is about celebrating the children’s game, where everyone plays, where there are no substitutes and the players referee their own game.

It is all about having fun and playing in an environment where players have the freedom to try things and be creative.

Rules

Kids referee their own games (Pitch organiser at the side of the pitch – they are there if the children need help and to deal with any injuries)
NO SUBS! - Every child plays for every minute.
4 v 4 or 5v5 where possible but also 4v5 etc so as to accommodate every child. The odd player is the joker who plays for both teams and is always on the team that has possession of the ball.
Parents step back and watch the games from a spectator area, just enjoying watching children play on their own terms. They applaud both teams for their efforts.
No coaching or giving instructions from the sidelines.
Players dribble or kick the ball onto the pitch when the ball goes out.
10 minute games – round robin format. There will be a tournament draw made.
Teams are mixed from PFA players or friends of PFA players who register.
I will find a team for any player who isn’t in a team.
Kids choose if they want goalies or not.
Pitch 30 x 15 marked out with six coloured cones. Different colours for different pitches, red pitch, yellow pitch etc.
Goals – portable or markers/poles.
