Kick off!‏

Dear scott,

Today's the big kick off! World Cup 2010 has finally begun.

As 1GOAL fans, we're all looking for least two things to happen during the tournament: Our favourite team to hit the back of the net -- preferably more than once -- and a global call for universal education loud enough to make it happen.

Today, we get a chance to help make both these dreams come true by taking on the new 1GOAL, 1Friend challenge.

Here's how it works: First, sign up online, pledging that for every goal your favourite team scores during the World Cup, you'll ask at least 1 friend to send a special yellow card to world leaders, urging them to swiftly secure quality education for all.

We'll add up the pledges and deliver them directly to each squad -- so they'll know every goal they score will grow the global campaign to give 72 million children a shot at a better future.

We can make education for all the permanent legacy of the 2010 World Cup. But with the first match kicking off in just a few hours, there's no time to lose. Please sign up for the 1GOAL, 1Friend challenge today:

Inviting your friends is easy. After your team scores a goal, we'll send you all the info you need and the link to our special yellow card petition, calling on world leaders to guarantee education for all.

We'll deliver all the yellow cards from you and your friends directly to world leaders at the Education Summit in Cape Town, happening just before the final match in July.

Top government officials from all over the world will meet there to discuss the 72 million children who are still denied a basic education. How much they are willing to do will depend on how loud our voice becomes.

That's why FIFA, top footballers from Ronaldo to Pele, global superstars like Shakira and millions of football fans from every nation have come together to support 1GOAL for World Cup 2010 -- Education for All.

For the players on the pitch, fans around the world, and the children who are counting on us for a better future, let's make the 2010 World Cup a victory to remember.

Thanks for making a difference,
