Sewfa results

SEWFA Results 2/7/2012

United 2  d County 1
From the first whistle, this tightly contested game would see both teams trying to secure the three points. In wintery and muddy conditions, United’s defence found it hard to keep their feet with County placing several shots on goal.
United’s Kylie Durbidge found the back of the net first, giving United a much needed goal. County then levelled the score with a goal from Sonya Bawden, making the scores level at half time.
The second half was equally fought, with Tracey Kourmouzis executing a somewhat stellar goal, only for it to be called offside. The scores remained level until an own-goal by County gave United the one goal advantage to take the game and the three points.

Palace 2 d Millicent
Palace and Millicent have enjoyed some close and good quality meetings in recent times and yesterday at Blue Lake Sports Park was no exception. Whilst the visitors were not able to penetrate a well drilled Palace back line, the same could be said for the reigning Premiers forwards who were stifled in their attacking endeavours by an equally stubborn Millicent defence. Gabby Tentye was able to break the deadlock in the closing minutes of the first term with a well aimed shot that skidded off a slippery and muddy surface to give Palace a 1 goal lead at the interval. Millicent continued to push forward sensing they were always in touch and worthy of, at least, shared honours but the game was sealed with a second for Palace when Olivia Pratt finished off a well worked move involving multiple contributors.
